October 14th, 2017 - Jon Mitchell hopped behind the wheel of his Open Wheel Modified on Friday night at Lonestar Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) for the two-day Armadillo Nationals. With 33 Touring Outlaw Modified Series (TOMS) entries registered in for action, Mitchell timed in second fastest overall in qualifying before charging to a heat race victory. Earning the 7th-starting position for the A-Main on Saturday night, Jon held his spot for the entire distance of the feature notching a 7th place finish.

October 7th, 2017 - On Friday night Jon Mitchell traveled Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) for the 11th annual Gumbo Nationals. With 35 Super Late Models on hand for the two-day Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) sanctioned weekend, Mitchell followed up the second fastest time in his qualifying group with a 4th place finish in his heat. September 30th, 2017 - Aboard the HealthCare Express #5 Super Late Model entry, Jon Mitchell traveled to Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, Louisiana) on Saturday night for the special event. September 23rd, 2017 - Thursday night saw Jon Mitchell hop behind the wheel of his Open Wheel Modified for the 19th annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota). Drawing 98 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) entries for the three-day event, Mitchell passed seven cars in his heat race to place 5th. Transferring into the B-Main for another shot at the $6,000-to-win opening night feature, Jon cruised to a 15-lap consolation victory locking his spot into the main event. Rolling off 18th, Mitchell was credited with a 30th place outing after retiring early from the 40-lapper on lap 21.

Returning on Friday night, Mitchell logged a 7th place in his heat sending him into the B-Main for one final shot at the A-Main. Needing to place in the Top 3 to make the show, Jon came up two spots short with a 5th place outing.

Wrapping up the 19th annual Featherlite Fall Jamboree on Saturday, Mitchell gained two spots in his heat recording a 6th place finish. Rolling off 5th in his consolation event for his final shot at the $10,000-to-win finale, Jon posted a 5th place finish transferring him into the Miner’s Outdoor & Rec Non-Qualifiers feature. September 16th, 2017 - Following the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS), Jon Mitchell headed to I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) on Saturday night for the inaugural Jim Kuntz Classic. With 26 cars signed in for the event honoring a well-known engine builder, Mitchell started his night off with a 10-lap heat race victory earning him the pole position for the main event. September 3rd, 2017 - Jon Mitchell kicked off his Labor Day weekend on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) for the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) sanctioned program. Passing one car in his 8-lap heat race, Mitchell posted a 3rd place finish earning him the 9th-starting position for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. Gaining one spot in the 35-lapper, Jon registered an 8th place finish.

The following night with 22 cars on hand at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi), Mitchell followed up the fastest time in his qualifying group with a heat race win. August 20th, 2017 - Jon Mitchell visited Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Arkansas) on Friday night for the 25th annual Topless 100. Drawing 41 Super Late Models for the event co-sanctioned by the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) and the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS), Mitchell came up one spot short of a transfer position in his heat race with a 5th place outing. After Mother Nature postponed Saturday’s B-Main to Sunday afternoon, Mitchell secured his spot into the $40,000-to-win main event with a 2nd place finish behind Timothy Culp in his consolation event until he came across light at the scales. July 29th, 2017 - Following the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS), Jon Mitchell was one of 24 Super Late Models on hand at Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Arkansas) on Friday night for the $2,000 top prize. After coming in second fastest in his qualifying group behind Garrett Alberson, Mother Nature postponed the feature to August 4th after rain began falling following time trials.

Saturday night brought Mitchell to Legit Speedway Park (West Plains, Missouri) to compete with the MARS DIRTcar West Series. With $3,000 on the line in the feature, Jon was an early retiree from the 30-lapper while be credited with a 20th place outing.

July 7th, 2017 - Jon Mitchell returned behind the wheel of his Open Wheel Modified on Friday night for the Mod Freedom 30 at Timberline Speedway (Corley, Texas). In a field of 32 cars, Jon started the night off with a heat race victory from the 5th-starting position. Rolling off 2nd for the feature, Mitchell slipped back to a 12th place outing in the 30-lap affair.

July 2nd, 2017 - Kicking off the Fourth of July weekend, Jon Mitchell visited Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) on Friday night for the COMP Camps Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) sanctioned contest. With 31 Super Late Models on hand, Mitchell logged a 6th place finish in his heat race transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top 3 into the opening night feature, Jon dropped back to a 5th place outing forcing him to rely on a provisional into the A-Main. Starting in 20th, Mitchell passed four cars in the 35-lapper recording a 16th place outing.

The following night at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) for the $2,500 top prize, Mitchell failed to make it into the show via his heat race but picked up an 8-lap consolation win positioning him 16th on the starting grid for the feature.  Losing one spot in the 40-lap affair, Jon retired a 17th place finish. Closing out the three-day weekend on Sunday, Mitchell was one of 34 Super Late Models registered in for battle at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). Holding his spot in his 10-lap heat, Jon registered a 6th place finish sending him into the B-Main. Taking the Top 2, Mitchell scored a 2nd place finish behind Kyle Beard earning him the 17th-starting position for the feature. With $2,000 on the line, Jon Mitchell improved seven spots reeling in a 12th place outing.

June 9th, 2017 - Jon Mitchell was back behind the wheel of his Murphy & Son Timber #5 Open Wheel Modified on Tuesday night for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned event at Caney Valley Speedway (Caney Valley, Kansas). Holding his starting position in his heat race, Mitchell logged a 5th place finish sending him into the B-Main. Transferring the Top 5 into the opening night feature, Jon scored a runner-up finish behind Ryan Gustin locking him into the 15th-starting spot for the A-Main. Losing three positions in the 40-lapper, Jon Mitchell registered an 18th place finish.

Following the USMTS on Wednesday, Jon was one of 37 cars signed in at 81 Speedway (Park City, Kansas) for the 6th annual Summit “Showdown in the Playground”. Gaining three spots in his heat, Mitchell landed a runner-up finish behind Zack VanderBeek positioning him on the pole for the feature. Taking the lead on the drop of the green flag, Jon Mitchell never let go of the top spot leading all 40 circuits en route to his first win of the season and first career USMTS victory. Losing two positions in his heat race, Jon scored a 3rd place finish transferring him into the B-Main. Sending the Top 5 into the feature, Mitchell stormed to a consolation victory locking him into the 14th-starting spot for the feature. Losing one position in the 40-lapper, Jon Mitchell posted a 14th place finish.

Friday night brought Mitchell to Thunderbird Speedway (Muskogee, Oklahoma) to pilot his Super Late Model in the MARS DIRTcar West Series sanctioned program. Recording a 3rd place finish in his heat race, Mitchell secured his spot into the Michael Hornback Benefit A-Main. With $4,000 on the line, Jon Mitchell reeled in a 3rd place finish behind Terry Phillips and Tony Jackson Jr. with Kyle Beard and Jacob Magee completing the Top 5 finishers.

May 26th, 2017 - On Thursday night Jon Mitchell kicked off the Memorial Day Weekend at Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) sanctioned program. Drawing 67 cars for the opening night Cowboy Classic, Mitchell was battling for a transfer spot in his heat race until getting sideways sending him to the tail. Earning the 16th-starting position after placing 11th in his heat, Jon logged a 15th place outing ending his night early.

Returning on Friday for the Tribute to Don & Billie Gibson, Mitchell fell one spot short of a transfer position in his heat race with a 4th place finish. Rolling off on the front row of his B-Main for another shot at the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature, Jon dropped back to an 8th place finish preventing him from making the show.

On Saturday evening after bad weather pushed back the 25th annual Show-Me 100 to Sunday, Mitchell decided to pack up and head home after he was slated to start near the tail of his consolation event.

May 13th, 2017 - Hopping behind the wheel of the Healthcare Express #5 Open Wheel Modified, Jon Mitchell visited Lonestar Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) on Saturday night for the United State Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned event. With 35 cars on hand for the 4th annual Summit Spring Modified Nationals, Mitchell started the night of with a heat race win from the 3rd-starting spot positioning him 2nd on the start grid for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. After leading every circuit of the 35-lap affair, Jon Mitchell came in eight pounds light at the scales vacating his first win of the season.

March 4th, 2017 - On Thursday night returning with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS), Jon Mitchell was one of 39 Open Wheel Modifieds signed in at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) for the 6th annual Cajun Classic presented by Horseshoe Bossier City. Starting in 3rd in his heat race, Mitchell started the night off by storming to a 8-lap heat race win locking him into the 5th-starting spot for the main event. With $2,000 on the line, Jon slipped back to a 15th place outing in the opening night feature.  

The following night rolling off on the pole of his heat, Mitchell cruised to another heat race victory win putting him on the pole for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. February 24th, 2017 - Making his first start of the season in the Open Wheel Modified division, Jon Mitchell traveled to Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) on Friday night for the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) sanctioned event. In a field of 47 cars, Mitchell placed 2nd in his heat sending him into the B-Main. Starting on the pole, Jon cruised to an 18-lap consolation win putting him 13th on the starting rundown for the feature. Working his way into the Top 10, Jon jumped up three spots in the 40-lapper posting a 10th place finish.  

Jon picked back up with the USMTS series on Sunday at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) for the final night of the Summit Racing USMTS Southern Region presented by Production Jars. Dropping back to an 8th place finish in his heat race, Jon rolled off 9th in his B-Main for his final shot at the feature. Taking the Top 5, Jon advanced five positions to place 4th and secure his spot into the A-Main. Starting in 19th, Jon Mitchell improved ten spots in the 40-lap affair notching a 9th place finish.

February 11th, 2017 - Jon Mitchell opened the 2017 racing season on Saturday night at Lonestar Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) piloting his Healthcare Express #5 Open Wheel Modified for the season-opener. In a field of 23 cars, Mitchell locked his spot into the A-Main with a 3rd place finish in his heat. Advancing through the field seven spots, Jon Mitchell reeled in a runner-up finish behind Ty Lowe with Donnie Powers, Tye Clampitt, and Kyle Taylor rounding out the Top 5.

November 26th, 2016 - Wrapping up the P&W Sales Southern United Professional Racing (SUPR) season, Jon Mitchell made the trip to Lonestar Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) on Saturday night for the Lone Star Turkey Nationals. In a field of 21 Super Late Models, Mitchell landed a podium finish in the main event. Battling for a $3,000 payday in the feature, Jon advanced four positions posting a 3rd place finish behind Morgan Bagley and Tyler Erb with Zach McMillan and B.J. Robinson rounding out the Top 5.

After leading the first 30 laps and recieving his spot back after a lap car spun him out, Mitchell suffered suspension issues late in the race from the tangle-up with the lap car forcing him to retire early.
