Thirty-nine Super Late Models converged on the 1/4 mile oval, and in heat race action Mitchell just missed the transfer into the 50 lap main event after finishing fifth which put him on the pole of a b-main. In the b-main, after Series Officials deemed that Mitchell jumped the start he was put back a row and went on to a fifth place finish, but with only the top three cars moving onto the 50 lap feature his night came to an early end.

March 22nd, 2014 - Jon Mitchell traveled to Timberline Speedway (Corley, Texas) on Friday evening for a $2,000-to-win program with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS).

Fifty-one entries were registered for battle, and Mitchell started his night by recording a second place finish in his heat race to lock into the tenth starting spot for the 40 lap feature. Jon battled his way forward over the course of the main event, advancing four positions to sixth place finish behind race winner Kelly Shyrock, Chris Henigan, Greg Garrett, Edward Hushelpeck, and Daniel Hilsabeck.

Saturday night found Mitchell competing at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) once again in another $2,000-to-win event with the USMTS that drew a field of forty-eight entries. Jon finished third in his heat race but fell just short of earning enough points to lock into the 40 lap finale, and as a results was forced to run a b-main. A third place finish in the b-main positioned him starting eighteenth on the grid for the main event. Mitchell retired his #5 Open Wheel Modified from the main event just past the halfway point, results in a 24th place finish.

March 14th, 2014 - Jon Mitchell invaded Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) over the weekend for the 4th Annual Pelican 100. The annual event has in the past and scheduled to be a two-day, $10,000-to-win program but with gloomy weather forecasted over the weekend, officials made the decision to cut the program to a one-day, $5,000-to-win show.

A stout field of fifty-one converged on the unsanctioned event on Friday evening, and Jon failed to make the transfer into the main event via heat race action, but was able to lock in the 17th starting spot with a sixth place finish in the b-main. Mitchell battled around mid-pack for much of the event until he spun off turn four in the late stages of the race and decided to retire from the remainder of the event, resulting in a disappointing 20th place finish.

March 8th, 2014 - Jon Mitchell kicked off his 2014 season on Saturday night with the annual Port-A-Cool Texas World Dirt Track Championship at Texas Motor Speedway in Justin, Texas.

Thirty-seven drivers registered for the SUPR Late Model Series sanctioned event, and Jon was locked into the fifth starting spot for the $3,500-to-win main event after he grabbed the win in his preliminary heat race. In the 40 lap feature, Mitchell raced around the top five for much of the event before recording a solid fourth place finish in the final rundown behind race winner Morgan Bagley, Chris Brown, and Ryan Gustin, while Rodney Sanders completed the top five.
