September 4th, 2016 - Following the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA), Jon Mitchell kicked off his Labor Day Weekend by traveling to Lakeside Speedway (Kansas City, Kansas) on Friday night for the $3,000-to-win A-Main. Recording a 5th place finish in his heat, Mitchell earned the 15th-starting spot for the feature. Moving up three positions in the opening night A-Main, Jon registered a 12th place outing.

On Saturday 37 MLRA Super Late Models signed into Lucas Oil Speedway (Wheatland, Missouri) for the Larry Phillips Memorial. After coming one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a 4th place outing, Mitchell edged his way into the main event with a 3rd place finish in his B-Main. Battling for another $3,000 payday, Jon logged a 17th place finish.

Closing out the three-day weekend, Mitchell stopped at Monett Speedway (Monett, Missouri) on Sunday for the MARS DIRTcar Series sanctioned program. Drawing 30 Super Late Models for the 46th Annual Four State Dirt Track Championship, Jon locked his spot into the feature with a 3rd place finish in his heat. With $4,000 on the line in the A-Main, Jon Mitchell reeled in a solid 3rd place finish behind Justin Asplin and Will Vaught with Payton Looney and Cole Wells rounding out the Top 5.
