Mitchell grabs top-10 finishes in CCSDS action at Poplar Bluff and Old No. 1
Jon Mtichell competed in Missouri and Arkansas with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) over the weekend and scored two solid results, including his first podium finish of the year.
On Friday, Mitchell was one of 28 CCSDS Super Late Model pilots looking for a $5,000 victory at Missouri’s Poplar Bluff Speedway. He drove his Parker Truck Repair No. 5 car to third in his heat on the 3/8-mile track and started the 35-lap feature from the 11th position. He clawed forward one spot to come home 10th.
The schedule then shifted to Harrisburg, Arkansas, and the quarter-mile Old No. 1 Speedway for the 2024 edition of the Cow Patty on Saturday. Thirty-three Super Late Model drivers were at the track hoping to take the $5,000 first-place prize. Mitchell turned in a runner-up effort in his heat, putting him on the third row to begin the 40-lap main event. He moved forward two positions in the race, claiming third on the final lap.
Mitchell finished behind Morgan Bagley and Logan Martin, with Chandler Petty and Steve Stultz rounding out the top five.
Mitchell currently sits fifth in the CCSDS point standings.
