Pair of top-5 finishes for Mitchell at Sabine and Boothill
Jon Mitchell climbed aboard his W&W Timber No. 5 Modified on the first weekend in August to race in two USRA American Racer Modified Series (ARMS) programs in Louisiana.
On Friday, 21 ARMS competitors made their way to the 3/8-mile Sabine Speedway in Many, Louisiana, for a $2,000-to-win show. Mitchell advanced from fifth to take the checkered flag in his heat race and started the 30-lap feature from the fifth position. He picked up two spots in the race to claim a podium result, finishing third behind Chris Henigan and John Whittington. Kenny Gaddis and Dustin Henigan rounded out the top five.
The next night, Mitchell was one of 22 Modified racers at Greenwood, Louisiana’s Boothill Speedway for another ARMS program. Mitchell won his heat from the pole on the quarter-mile oval, then started fourth in the 30-lap A-Main. He came home in the same position, crossing the start-finish line behind Chris Henigan, Gaddis and Josh Baucom. Joe Duvall occupied the fifth spot.
