Mitchell steers to Batesville podium
Jon Mitchell took on Batesville Motor Speedway on Friday and Saturday with a pair of starts in the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Steve Rushin Memorial.
On Friday, Mitchell was part of a strong 40-car field on the first of two nights of racing at the 3/8-mile track. He drove his Parker Truck Repair No. 5 Super Late Model to a win in his heat race, then started the 35-lap, $5,000-to-win main event from the pole. After leading 29 of the first 30 circuits, Mitchell ultimately came home third behind Billy Moyer Sr. and Mason Oberkramer. Jamie Elam and B.J. Robinson completed the top five.
The next night, Mitchell was one of 30 CCSDS drivers at Batesville for another $5,000-to-win show. He raced to third in his heat and rolled off 10th in the 35-lap A-Main. He recorded a 12th-place result.
With three races remaining in the 2024 season, Mitchell continues to sit fifth in CCSDS points.
