12th-place showing for Mitchell in CCSDS Cotton Pickin’
Sporting a new wrap honoring law enforcement, Jon Mitchell took on the $20,000-to-win Cotton Pickin’ with the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) at Magnolia Motor Speedway on Friday and Saturday.
Racing began at the 3/8-mile “Home of the Black Ice” in Columbus, Mississippi, on Friday with 45 CCSDS competitors in the pit area. Mitchell qualified seventh-quickest in his group aboard his No. 5 Super Late Model and finished fourth in his heat race, locking him into the following night’s main event.
He rolled off 13th in the 60-lap feature on Saturday and picked up one spot to come home 12th.
With just two events remaining on the 2024 CCSDS calendar, Mitchell sits fifth in the point standings.
